This is something I've posted on intermittently throughout the course of the 2012/13 and with the season drawing to a close I thought it high time that I put up the latest numbers. Plus, it gave me a chance to mess around a little with sortable table (expect much more on this by the way) and include some other areas to look at:
TG - total team goals scored whilst player on the pitch
TTG - total team goals overall
IPP - individual point percentage (% of players points (goals+assists)/total team goals scored whilst player on the pitch)
IGP - individual goal percentage (% of players goals scored/total team goals scored whilst player on the pitch
TIPP - individual point percentage (% of players points (goals+assists)/total overall team goals scored)
TIGP - individual goal percentage (% of players goals scored/total overall team goals)
Christian Benteke still leads the way but what appeared to be an unassailable lead at one stage has been eroded away - ironically when Aston Villa have improved their results with others picking up the slack.
By and large, the top 15 or so names have been familiar throughout the season although Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone have forced their way in over the second half of the season. What has been interesting is that whereas certain players have been consistent over the season; namely Ricky Lambert, Michu, Luis Suarez and Carlos Tevez, Robin Van Persie and in particular Gareth Bale have seen their IPP% increase as the season has progressed. This tweet in particular (prior to Sunday) showed quite much in Bale's case.
At the season I will dig a little deeper into the moving numbers over the course of the season but for now play around the table to look at which players are most effective across which categories.
