The previous post looked at Man City's group of death fixtures. So let's focus now on the EPL schedule after a CL fixture. Join me after the jump.
EPL fixtures after CL games
Real Madrid v Man City Tuesday 18th September
Premier League | Sun 23 Sep | 16:00 |
A home tie against Arsenal with 5 days rest is something that shouldn't cause us too much worry. still it's a game against a top 6 squad.
Man City v Borussia Dortmund Wednesday 3rd October
Premier League | Sat 6 Oct | 12:45 |
Another home game. A lunch time kick-off with only 65 hours between games. No travel involved.
Ajax v Man City Wednesday 24th October
Premier League | Sat 27 Oct | 17:30 |
Again, another home fixture. this time against Swansea with just short of 72 hours between games. A short flight home post Ajax game. Expect some rotation in the Swansea fixture.
Man City v Ajax Tuesday 6th November
Premier League | Sun 11 Nov | 13:30 |
See the pattern? Lot's of home EPL fixtures following a CL fixture which is in total contrast to last years 6 away EPL fixtures following a CL game.
Man City v Real Madrid Wednesday 21st November
Premier League | Sun 25 Nov | 16:00 |
The only away EPL fixture following a CL game is a tough one. Chelsea away will be a huge EPL game and the extra days rest may be needed. Chelsea have Juventus away on Tuesday.
Borussia Dortmund v Man City Tuesday 4th of December
Premier League | Sat 8 Dec | 15:00 |
So the last EPL fixture after a CL group game is the Manchester derby. Man United play FC Cluj on the Wednesday. So Man City gain an extra days rest but have the flight time to deal with.
We must say that a 3pm kick off on a Saturday for a Derby fixture looks a little off. Expect this game to be moved to a peak time on Sunday.
